ReWild / South Fork Coordinator

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

This position is at the heart of ReWild's work on the South Fork. You'll help tend vibrant native and food-producing gardens, connect local youth to meaningful climate and community action, and demonstrate to our neighbors that a healthier, sustainable approach to land care is possible — and beautiful.

Your work includes the ReWild CROWN steps to sustainability: Compost • Reduce, reuse, recycle • Organic landcare • Water wisely • Native plants. And your work turns ReWild's values into daily practice on the ground in East Hampton.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Garden Coordination · ~85 hrs/year

  • Lead weekly volunteer garden sessions at South Fork chapter sites

  • Direct volunteers on planting, weeding, mulching, and seasonal care

  • Ensure gardens stay welcoming, functional, and wildlife-friendly

  • Track volunteer attendance and hours

Summer Youth Program · ~280 hrs/year · heaviest May–Sept

  • Support the Summer Program to Fight Hunger & Climate Change on the South Fork

  • Work alongside student interns at South Fork garden sites

  • Guide youth in organic gardening, food systems & community service

  • Help harvest and deliver produce to local food pantries

  • Help with program management and documentation

Tabling & Special Events · ~40 hrs/year

  • Represent ReWild at community events — set up, engage, collect sign-ins

  • Help organize garden tours, workshops, and special workdays

  • Support logistics, outreach, and on-the-day event coverage

Publicity & Outreach · ~20 hrs/year

  • Add events to ReWild's website, calendar, and newsletter

  • Create social media posts and graphics (Canva + WhatsApp)

  • Keep the community informed about gardens, composting, and chapter news

Administration · Ongoing, year-round

  • Maintain volunteer lists, chapter calendars, and records in Google Drive

  • Communicate with Chapter leads, youth organizers, and partners

  • Organize photos and documentation for reports and social media

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required / Strongly Preferred

  • Experience working with youth (camp, mentoring, teaching, organizing)

  • Comfortable working outdoors and traveling locally on the South Fork

  • Strong organizational skills — fieldwork AND admin tasks

  • Familiar with Google Workspace and shared digital tools

  • Experience with social media; comfort with Canva & WhatsApp

  • Genuine interest in sustainability, native plants, or food justice

  • Reliable, punctual, and accountable

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed)

A Plus, But Not Required

  • Spanish language skills

  • Experience photographing and documenting programs

  • Interest in creating hands-on nature connection activities

  • Comfort working with local government or school partners

POSITION DETAILS

Status: Part-Time
Year-Round Location: East Hampton, NY
Peak Season: May – September
Compensation: Hourly · commensurate with experience
Mileage: Reimbursed for approved travel
Reports To: Gardens Manager
