About The Commack Ms community garden
The Garden Club was a new initiative that began this year, created to give students meaningful, hands-on experiences with nature and environmental stewardship. As this was our first year, the club was built on a strong commitment to helping students understand the importance of protecting our local environment and supporting biodiversity.
The club was founded as a way to begin building a connection between students and the natural world, while creating opportunities for future learning and involvement. As the program grows, it will focus on topics such as native plants, pollinators, and the impact of invasive species, helping students develop a deeper understanding of local ecosystems over time.
The garden is intended to be a shared space for the entire school community. Classes can visit for lessons, and students will have opportunities to spend time there throughout the day. We hope it becomes a place where students can slow down, connect with nature, and take pride in something that continues to grow year after year.
At the heart of the Garden Club is a simple mission: to promote environmental awareness, responsibility, and respect for local ecosystems. By focusing on native plants and sustainable practices, the club aims to support pollinators, restore natural habitats, and create opportunities for students to make a positive impact in their own community
