ReWild Committees & Programs

ReWild Committees mostly meet online and get critical work from grant-writing to social media done.

If you have the talents, interest and time to help any of these teams from the comfort of your home, please register here to volunteer.

  • Accounts Committee: We create the budget and track spending for ReWild, working closely with our outside bookkeepers and accountants. If you have accounting skills that you would like to contribute to an environmental cause, please try us out. Contact accounts-leads@rewildlongisland.org

  • Compost Crew: We promote composting in individual homes and local communities by educating individuals and municipal government. Reach out to compost-leads@rewildlongisland.org.

  • Gardens Program: We screen and award garden grants to community groups between November and February of each year. We also track the gardens program and help staff as needed. Contact gardens-leads@rewildlongisland.org.

  • Grants Committee: We prospect for grants, respond to RFPs, keep track of grant spending and report back to funder. We meet once a month online, and then work in small teams at our own pace. No prior grants experience needed. If you like writing, or good with numbers, we welcome you. Contact grants-leads@rewildlongisland.org

  • Plant Sales Committee: We select the plants, procure them and organize volunteers for the Spring and Fall Native Plant Sales. Join us if you like buying native plants for other people. Contact plants-leads@rewildlongisland.org

  • Social Media & Web Committee: We meet weekly to create the newsletter, write social media content, create design, and manage the communications strategy and execution for ReWild. We welcome any creative person with a flair for any style of communications (words, pictures, video). Contact social-leads@rewildlongisland.org

  • Speakers Bureau trains volunteers to become articulate advocates for ReWilding. We also organize online webinars and presentations at local venues like Libraries. Contact speakers-leads@rewildlongisland.org.

  • Summer Program to Fight Hunger and Climate Change: We inspire students leaders to organize the Summer Program and work alongside youth in preserves and gardens, growing natives, harvesting produce, composting and a variety of earth friendly tasks. The South Fork Program organizes around East Hampton and can be reached at southforksummer-leads@rewildlongisland.org. The program on the North Shore meets at sites near Port Washington and around Huntington. They can be reached at northshoresummer-leads@rewildlongisland.org.

  • Teachers Network: We are an emerging group of educators and classroom teachers exchanging ideas and creating a curriculum that is fun and based on real-world engagement with native ecosystems. Reach out to teachers-leads@rewildlongisland.org if you want to help!
