Let's keep learning together this winter!
ReWild / South Fork is partnering with the East Hampton Library and the Surfrider Foundation’s Eastern Long Island chapter to start a book club, and we hope you'll join us no matter how much you read.
First up is Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer, a botanist and enrolled citizen of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Her science background taught her to ask questions of nature. Her Potawatomi heritage taught her that plants and animals are our oldest teachers. In the book she brings the two together through stories of wild strawberries, maple sap, moss, and of course sweetgrass.
We'll be reading it during Native American Heritage Month, on Shinnecock and Montaukett homeland, and we're grateful for the chance to learn together.
Read the whole book, read a chapter, or just come to listen. Register through the East Hampton Library, and pick up your copy at the Adult Reference Desk or on the Libby app.
